Very slow - have settings been changed?

Cruiserforum normally causes no problems, however, today, it is virtually impossible to access.

I have dumped my cache a number of times just to be able to make this post. Running Chrome on Linux on a new machine.

It seems that the ad server which indicates as oasc12.247realmedia.com may be a part of the problem.

Can you check into this. Please don't start running into some of the problems other sailing forums have that I and others have moved away from.

A response would be nice

Everything is quite speedy for me.

Sometimes the Internet has congestion, some times things between you and the site break.

Fine for me too!!!

Could it be your browser? Or a local server issue? Mine, for example, gets ridiculous on weekend evenings when all the kids start playing their online games...

Re: Very slow - have settings been changed?

Thanks for all the replies. Things seem to be back to normal now; perhaps some router along the way got reset, who knows.

After all... it's just the interweb!

It's fine for me at the moment, but I do notice times (very few) when it just seems to stop dead.

I run a ridiculously awesome rig with a huge internet pipe running into it and I still have strange problems sometimes. Particularly uploading pics, CF just behaves strangely sometimes. It's not your gear.

It is not unheard of for advertising servers to try to serve up a badly coded ad that bogs things down. The ad networks usually pull the bad ads when they're discovered, but that can sometimes take a couple of days.

Re: Very slow - have settings been changed?

I posted on this a few days ago on one of the few times in the last week I have been able to get pages to open. It doesn't seem to have appeared. If the pages open at all it is a blank page ie no content apart from the headings and ad. Takes over a minute to open. Working now and normal speed but wasn't a few hours ago.

Re: Very slow - have settings been changed?

Most threads slow and still come up devoid of content. Some sites have this slowness most don't.

Re: Very slow - have settings been changed?

I've noticed the last day or two the threads would take a long time to up load (15-30 seconds). I've cleaned out the cache and cookies but no improvement.
