No Sound on U-Tube

I am using an ASUS notebook with Windows 7 Starter. I get sound on other videos, but not on the U Tube one on the snubber thread, or in fact, on any recent U Tube. Any suggestions, please?

Hi Ann,

I take it you will have tried to find a volume button on YouTube itself?
I have just tried to find one, but I can't. Neither can I oh in as I am on my "other" computer.

Obviously if your computer plays sound on other things it must be. YouTube problem with your computer.

You could try deleting the cookie that is used with YouTube. It may have set something incorrectly.

I will have a think of other ideas for you.

By the way, Jim's computer has Windows XP, and that one plays them.

Hi Ann,

In Internet Explorer go to Options / Privacy / and clear cookies.

That will get rid of all of them... You might have to put your password back into pages like CF next time you visit, but you will be getting rid of lots of tracking stuff from other websites.

I can't really think of what else it can be where it's so selective.

This is usually due to flash protected mode and Windows 7 sandboxing , turn off Flash protected mode or downgrade to flash 10.3

Also the later flash versions use Core Audio support and some sound drivers have poor buggy implementations , check and upgrade to the latest sound drivers.

No sound on videos
If you don't hear sound when playing a YouTube video, try these troubleshooting steps:

Adjust the volume on your computer and speakers.
Adjust the volume control located in the lower left corner of the YouTube video player.
Restart your browser.
Try turning up the volume for other video players (like Quicktime, Real Player, or Windows Media player).
If you still have no sound after completing the steps above, these additional tips may help:

Update your Flash Player to the latest version.
Allow third-party Flash content on your computer. Learn more by visiting Adobe’s help page.
Check any Antivirus and Firewall software to see if its blocking third-party Flash content.

This is all the info I can see



Check closely the speaker icon on the YouTube video player. If you see an "X" you have it on "Mute". Clicking the X, or dragging the Volume Slider with your mouse will un-mute the sound for YouTube videos.


If you see the X then the video player is muted and that is why there is no sound.
Sometimes the X is gets stuck and you have to fiddle with the mouse to get it un-stuck.
Sometimes click and drag at the same time will get it unstuck.

If all else fails, the volume setting and mute setting for YouTube videos are stored in your browser YouTube cookie,
so deleting the cookie, and empty the browser cache will fix it back to normal.



To whomever came up with the suggestion of not only clicking the x (mine wouldn't do anything) and dragging the audio icon with the X.....THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I HAD TRIED EVERYTHING AND THIS FINALLY WORKED. I AM GRATEFUL.



if you put your mouse cursor over the speaker icon the volume bar should appear just to the right of it....move the mouse cursor over the volume bar and slide it all the way to the right....that should make it work, if your problem is the same as most here was.
