Contacting Us

I can't find a single reference that allows me to directly talk to the Mods. It may exist, I don't know, but I can't find one.

Paige,
The mods are all over. You can email them from their avatars or ask a question at the help desk. The choice is yours.

You can also use the Report Post icon in any post or PM . . . this will open a thread in the Moderators Forum and send an email notification to every moderator. It is the fastest way to get a mod's attention.

Thanks guys, i've used the methods you suggest so I should be more specific. 'we need a 'contact us' button'. in the mean time I'll dump it on Tao as being the last mod to reply

What's the story with moderators, how many are there?

I know GordMay is Emeritus Moderator which seems like a promotion, continues to get the title without great expectations that he will moderate as much.

What's the deal with being a 'CF Advisor'? Is that a demotion? Did Bash(?) do something naughty, but not quite so naughty as to get booted? Is there more than 1 advisor?

There is a contact us link at the bottom of every page (that gets you the help desk).

Mod list.

Thanks Frank. In reality I knew I could contact the mods in lots of ways, but I've been around for a bit. A 'Contact Us' button would help immensely and keep the forum abreast of current web practice.

The report post is the best - Some mods sleep, even TaoJones. We have mods in different time zones so someone is always about.

Under "Communities-Meet the Mods" is our rogues gallery

Contact Us at the bottom of the page goes to the "help desk" and not all mods get those immediately.

GordMay - Is on of our longest serving members. "Emeritus" basically means retired. Gord is a retired moderator. He is the only member who we feel "earned the title" for his long years of service. (He also knows where the keys to the moderator's rum cabinet are, among a few other things)

Moderators - are basically Masochists. There are a few 'super-moderators' but we binned the title because no-one really needs to know or should care who they are. They basically have some advanced torture tools for use on misbehaving members. Seriously they have access to some different forum type tools for fixing especially tough user issues.

Advisors - Are a group that volunteered to "hash out" different forum ideas. For example if someone posts a "Why don't we have a forum specifically devoted to anchors and guns?" question. We would likely engage the advisors in a "private" forum to ask what they think.

Seems like a natural pairing to me: I can see how discussion of the one could lead to the use of the other.

Gord is retired, and he doesn’t moderate at all.
He has returned all his keys, and cannot access the office (or liquor cabinet).

Whether GordMay has the keys for special functions on the forum or not, his presence and attitude are a moderating influence.
