Re: Qtvlm

We (qtVlm) had a major issue with Android 11 and up. Should be fixed now.

Re: Qtvlm

Hello Maitiai.
qTVlm running on Android 11!!!
Just purchased the Android licence to do routings... But my cruising boat is very small only 5.5m so I have a special polar.
Just noticed the Andoir version does not have the "Import Polar" button on the boat settings... Maybe I did not find how to load a csv polar.
If I send my polar to you can you upload it on the "Polar Server"? That way More pocket-cruiser sailors would have a small boat polar available.
This specific boat is a POMAR 5.5

The polar I've made is in the link below.

Re: Qtvlm

Hi,

The latest Android version (5.10.10) has an "import polar" button.
Otherwise on Android 11 still with the latest version you can copy the polar into
/Android/data/org.meltemus.qtvlm/files/polars with a file manager.

Re: Qtvlm

Great, Phailippe. Updating the versios solved, it runs nicely now. I also found two small boat polars, the Muskadett and the Sylphe (Dufour).

Please install the missing lib: libpulse-mainloop-glib0 with an apt install or your favorite package manager

Re: Qtvlm

Dear @Maitai,

Using QTVLM on Android 14 (Pixel 7 Pro) I seem to have trouble importing a custom .POL file. On Windows, that same .POL file imports and works fine. On Android, I can choose Import Polar, select the .pol file and then... nothing happens, the polar does not appear in the dropdown like it does in Windows.

The other workaround seems to have been closed: I can't copy the file to the 'polar' folder under qtvlm anymore. I tried the Files App, Total Commander and USB file transfer but I just can't get into that folder.

Any help?

I tried copying down the .pol to my phone using both USB transfer and sending it as an e-mail attachment, no difference. If I view the .pol on my phone, it looks OK.

Thanks in advance

Re: Qtvlm

Hello, just tried here there was no problem but I am on Android 13, I will try later on Android 14.

I copied the .pol in downloads on the device, then I went in qtVlm boat's setting -> import a polar, selected Downloads directory and that worked.

Alternatively I also tried with Amaze files manager, browsed to download, pressed long on the .pol file and chose "open with" qtVlm, that worked too.

With "Files" downloadable on Google Store (it's the admin version of the regular Android Files Manager) I am pretty sure you can access to /Android/data/org.meltemus.qtvlm/files/polars and copy it there directly.

Thank you very much for that quick answer!
First tip: no succes. I tried once more but after selecting the file nothing happens.

Second tip: QTVLM gives me error 'File ...(long path)... importgrib.grb' Error during opening. File can't be opened or it's not a GRIB file, or is corrupt, or contains unrecognized data.

Third tip: You mean the app 'Files by Google', correct? I can open /Android/data but then I get 'nothing to see here'.

Sorry, Android seems to have become really difficult with folder protection. Do you have any other tips?

Best regards

Bart
