1972 Pearson 33 continuation....

Okay...thanks for all the shaft removal suggestions! Now I am convinced I will have the engine rebuilt and not just removed to R&R the prop shaft. I have suspicion that I see future problems in the Yanmar. Since boat is already torn apart and decided to jump in with both feet. Good news is 1) freshly rebuilt Yanmar 2GM20F with new motor mounts. 2) I can install the new shaft from the inside solving the issue I was having because I could not remove rudder. 3) I can paint the inside of engine compartment. 😁

Problem is the boat is on the hard and mast is not stepped. So I have no boom to help lift the motor.

Lets say the marina has no lift at the moment. This motor weighs 295 lbs and yes, likely I can use a bar over companion way and wrestle into cockpit BUT how do I set onto ground while the boat is in boat stands?? I am concerned that 2 big guys and a 300 lb motor on one side of a boat in a stand. 2 stands each side both port and std.....

I have to step the 40' mast and price went up to $415 (distance, fuel cost and time). The company has to pay distance, fuel and time but I still think that is high. Perhaps I could schedule engine removal and stepping simultaneously to save cost of two trips. Wondering if anyone might have a suggestion to just get motor out and step later. Suggestions???
