Re: Lagoon 39 or 400 or Jeanneau 41 DS

Having owned both a 40 foot cat and now a 43.5 foot centre cockpit mono I prefer the mono for cruising as a couple. Mainly because it's more satisfying to sail and more comfortable underway. The aft stateroom is also more spacious and comfortable than anything you'd find on a smaller catamaran. It's also easier and cheaper to find marina spaces.

After six months full time cruising I can say there have been maybe 7 nights of rolly anchorages where I really wished we were on a cat.

We’re looking at these, however, we haven’t heard too much about their “crossing” prowess. Both Atlantic and pacific crossings.

I think an owners version would be a great size for a couple, mins you wifee thinks the galley is a bit small.

Interested in you input.

Cheers.
Check out this family's youtube channel. Their earlier videos chronical their travels in a 380, now with kids they upgraded to a Outremer 51.

Here is one of the videos crossing the pacific in their 380 and another in bad weather:

380s have won the ARC and placed high if not winning. Many crossing, and circumnavigation.
