It is also my gut feeling that the chainplates, if executed in the molding process as one piece with the hull, will require 'zero' maintenance. Of course you always look at the adjacent area as well...

And on a typical Bavaria or Hallberg Rassy two spreader Selden swept rig, if one of the laterals goes, what happens?

Do not expect them on Bavarias any time soon. Low tech NOT = low tech.
