I did not mean pumps would take two KW but would consume enough energy that an engine of that displacement wouldn't cut it. They are at their limit when providing the extra 100w or so for starting...

The whole discussion of a water cooled 2k gas generator seems Ludacris. The energy just for water pump/ pumps would probably equal that required to produce the 2k. It's a portable generator. Take it...

My dumb ass response would keep it on deck. The exhaust and intake are on the same side. One post said they piped the exhaust overboard. I would think it would have to be a short run with that small...

I doubt a law, your center of gravity may not like it? Diesels are a little on the heavy side.

I'd agree with you for a particular boat application. Large boat put in a good diesel. Vacation boat us Honda or a less expensive unit. Honda likes their name price wise.
