Re: How many Amps Hours do you use a day?

OK clear, and yes all that's self-evident to me.

Bogart's Pentametric is good monitor with some flexibility for those wanting a standing setup logging such data from multiple points.

It does...

Re: How many Amps Hours do you use a day?

Are you saying two meters in the same location are required because they are one-way?

Every battery monitor I've seen measures two way, net current result of both in and out from a single shunt.

Re: How many Amps Hours do you use a day?

The real tests are a major PITA for most, require equipment on mains power and hardly anyone bothers.

Most BM's are wildly inaccurate, and that's just one reason why.

Re: How many Amps Hours do you use a day?

In a bank monitoring scenario it usually does.

With the APP connection approach I describe it can be more mobile, used to meter specific loads or charge sources.

As you would with a clamp...

Re: How many Amps Hours do you use a day?

You do not need "two shunts" to accurately audit all charge sources and all loads.

A shunt only measures the current passing through it, and it does measure all of it.

A BM shows everything...

Re: How many Amps do you use a day?

Obviously a nice $200 BM is great if you want the full picture. Whenever I recommend those I get a chorus of "unnecessary, overkill, KISS" replies, even when SoC is the thread topic, which is not the...

I'm hoping he'd actually have had personal experience with either.

Re: How many Amps Hours do you use a day?

Why do you think that would be better than the 180A one in my post #4?

Re: How many Amps Hours do you use a day?

Voltage is thus a very poor indicator of SoC, too many variables.

Re: How many Amps do you use a day?

A $30 AH counter will tell you.

Watts Up is a branded one, but obviously bigger amp currents may require something more robust.

This one may be good enough for most, just don't run cranking a...

Re: How many Amps do you use a day?

That would have to be AH (amp hours) for a quantity of power used over time, or stored.

Amps are an instantaneous measure of flow rate.
