The major issue I see with a long range cruising power tri is the weight. Not the hull weight but the fuel weight. To cross an ocean, even with a very efficient diesel, on a 40' trimaran would...

I am not even sure there are any diesel tri's... But I missed it was in the power forum, sorry for that.

A 40' tri is going to be substantially smaller inside compared to a 40' monohull. Let alone compared to a 47' one. Interior space of a trimaran is probably about equal to a monohull of about 2/3 the...
