Re: Sailing from Oxnard to Marina del Rey, CA
You're looking at a nice daysail..particularly this time of year. If you leave Channel Islands by 9 AM, you'll be in by 4 PM, with any luck. You'll likely be motorsailing till 1 PM, which is about... |

I use Firefox, but no adblockers or anything like that..I don't see giant ads or "chick" ads. I wonder if it's different if you're logging-in on a mobile device? I will test that theory & report. |

Re: I Almost Died Thread
I will never forget the sight of my FolkBoat sailing away from me, as my head broke water mid-channel between shore & Catalina. I was making my first singlehand passage on a warm summer's day, with... |

Re: Very loud noise heard but no collision. What was it?

Re: Alcohol stove
The only fire we ever had, onboard, was because of a pressurized alcohol stove. The flame is invisible, by day. Linda was heating coffee one morning & turned away for a minute..poof & the curtains... |

Re: Buying a Boat Angel donation boat
I bought my Newport 30 from them, via ebay, in 2009. No problems, paperwork spot-on, boat as described. Transaction straight-forward, no hitches, no problems. |

Re: how old to sail single handed
There's not that much difference between a 27' & 30'..I'm a couple of years older than you (& not in very good shape) & I singlehand my Newport 30 with no problem. You have to think ahead, plan... |

Re: You'll Think I'm Crazy
I'll second the suggestion that you head up the Delta & find some cheap moorage for the winter. Then you can rustle-up some work &..well, from there, nature will take it's course. Sail as much as... |

Re: SHTF and Boats
I live in so. cal where the inevitable "big one" (earthquake) is just around the corner. I've always considered the boat a potential "lifeboat" for when it happens. In fact, I was living aboard... |
