This has been in the top drawer of my nav station since I purchased this boat.
If it's a whistle it doesn't make a sound, air blows through when the valve is pressed.

It can be quite an involved process for minimalizing potential failure of the project.

The simrad tp32 is what most Westsailors use with good luck.
Bud taplins service manual illustrates the best mounting location which my be in conflict to common manufacturers mounting...

2000 covers itself without any sanding within 6 months.
If 2000 is in fact blush free West then west should fair well over un-sanded 2000?

How can it be thinned West if 2000 is blush free?

2000 is very rough, shouldn't that be tooth enough?

Yacht paint forum product support (Interprotect makers) state that you can use their Watertite epoxy filler in between coats of 2000 without sanding or washing off the blush as there isn't any blush...

That's what the anti epoxy guys shout about that if you don't keep high uv varnish maintenance coats on the epoxy or if the epoxy fails for reasons that are many that you will regret having...

Personally I wouldn't varnish anything that I didn't have a fabric to cover it while in the tropics (whilst on the hook or in her slip). And I still believe in a couple refresher coats each year....

I'm thinking I'm probably not going to use epoxy.

The varnish/epoxy combo is a huge debate that I've been well aware of.

Gougeon Brothers state that some paints and varnishes aren't compatable...

I'm aware that epoxy doesnt contain UV filters which is why it's very important for top coating with varnish high in uv filters.
