Re: Replacement Refrigeration Compressor (Engine Driven)

The refrigeration on my 1982 Whitby 42 is water-cooled with a Tecumseh HGC 1000 belt driven by a large 12v electric motor. It worked very well when we bought the boat but is a fairly energy hungry...

Re: Loud Engine Blower on Jeanneau SO 43 DS

We sailed a 2005 43 DS in the Med for two years and had no noise issues with our engine blower at all so I suggest you may have a damaged unit that needs replacing. The standard unit seemed to work...

Re: cheapest place to haulout in the med - turkey?

We had planned to haul out for four months over winter in Turkey this year but have just found out this country is no longer as cheap an option as a few years ago. We're also now looking for...

Re: Jeanneau 2012 44 DS

We're living aboard a Jeanneau 43DS and are located in the Med at the moment. We have found her excellent. Of course we'd rather have a nice big Oyster or something similar but the bang for buck with...

Re: Pros & Cons - CT41 Formosa

Sounds like you've got a good plan Vino. The one we crewed was a pleasure to sail. We couldn’t believe how well it went with just Genoa and Mizzen up. Handled a storm we found ourselves in nicely...

Re: Pros & Cons - CT41 Formosa

My wife and I crewed on one in South East Asia for a month or so in 2011. Poor ventilation below and seriously hot below decks in the tropics. She cruised OK though. We'd heard of the rot problem in...

Re: 'Living The Dream'

Welcome aboard. We retired a little early to go cruising and wish we hadn't waited so long. Enjoy yourselves. That's what life's about.

Re: Hi Everyone - From Oz

Welcome aboard Scotty. You've got yourself a great classic by the sound of it and well worth the effort. Remember, there's no such thing as stupid questions, only stupid mistakes.

Cheers

Mark and Sam I just spotted this after replying to your earlier post about draft concerns. I guess you went away from the Hanse. Congrats on the Jeanneau 45DS. We'll be around the central Med this...

Thames 4 Blood we crewed on a 72 footer around the med for a few months last season with 3.5 metre draft with the keel down. When lifted it was still just over 2 metres but mostly we didn't need to...

Re: Shallow Draft Jeanneau 43 ds

Alenka, we have a 2005 shallow draft 43DS as a live aboard in the Med and we love it. It's amongst the last few of these made before the model change and like a lot of things, by the time they'd...

Re: Over winter in Europe strategy

The whole schengen thing is a pain. Goboatingnow is right. Going out of the Schengen area doesn't stop the 180 day clock ,but it does stop the 90 day one until you get stamped back in to a schengen...
