I had the same thing happen, twice. Once the round pin snagged on another halyard, second time it snagged on my shirt. I was lucky. Someone is going to die or get seriously hurt.

I just bought a Garmin marine charts for US Alaska to USVI and their Homeport software - which all works as expected.

Not surprisingly Homeport software won't accept input from an external GPS...
