Which way did you go in getting the engine out? Is there ever an end to it all I dont have the time to haul and do all the projects I find I would like to do so I am a Weekend Warrior when it comes to upgrades. But as the saying goes in Wind in the willows " There is nothing absolutely nothing so enjoyable as messing about in boats" or something like that, at least for me!

I'm just generator poor have a 6.5KW Onan and a Kawasaki at home. Am Onan factory trained in Minn. Too involved in the filter and Genset install to get the Fluke out to check the output of he EU2000 right now.

No haven't taken the scope down to the boat or vice versa. but personal experience and 2 other people telling me the same story I have experienced makes me wary. Wont be long and that wont be a problem as I will have the Phasor up and running and wont need the EU2000 I have on board now. Also have a portable 3.5KW LP unit that I run the AC with. Sits covered on the fwd deck chained to the mast.

    hi Skip,
That's the way I see it as for size. Be careful with the EU2000, I have one I use aboard for smaller requirements too. The output is inverter and not true sine wave, have burned up chargers for rechargeable packs for drills and such. The electronic kind that don't use a primary transformer. Was talking to a delivery skipper today that had a charger catch fire on one. My solar panels keep the banks fully charged so I don't need a big genset except for the AC on rare occasion and for guests.

    Hi Skipmac
Sorry I didnt et back to you sooner. I thought I would get a msg that I had mail from thee list and I havent seen this one. Have had the primary PC crash last week and have been getting a new one up and running,Fortunately my important stuff was on an external HD!
I put a Flagship 18.5BTU AC in the space fwd of the engine and a Phasor 3.5 KW in the hall cabinet. Still working on that project but the end is in sight now. Also while installing that I am installing a fuel polishing system with multiple function redundancy. R.W.

    Hello Skipmac
R.W. from Pensacola, We have the 422 Island Star. Have seen the Mi Prescription ketch in Panama City. It needs a lot of TLC! Have just put in AC and a Genset in IS. GREAT boats!! We love ours and yours is literally a fish out of water. I think if I were going to re-power I would cut the cockpit floor out and re-glass it when the new engine was back in.

    Hi Skipmac,

I am currently involved in a project to help a friend rebuild his engine pan on a 422 center cockpit. He has had very little luck finding any information on pulling the old engine or getting it out of the way. From your post I gathered you had done this before. Any insight or guidance would be greatly appreciated. He is currently contemplating an A frame to set the engine on the AFT bunk while we rebuild the pan. There seems to be no clear solution to how to get this engine out of the boat.

    Thanks in advance,

    Chuck Buchanan
