I just re-rigged my Morgan 38 and replaced the original backstay with is insulated. I dont know how old is the wire or the insulators but they appear to be in good shape. It might save you a lot of money. 1 x 19 with swages--at least 50'--5/16 and in good condition and insulators by Norseman. If you send me your email I can send photos. Tell me what these insulator retail for and I'll make you a nice deal--and throw in the wire for free. paul at foerfront dot com

I was searching about replacing incandescent nav bulbs with LED's and ran across your post, but alas no response to your excellent question(exactly mine). What did you do? Why? I'm hoping to go with simple LED replacement bulbs.
