Re: Furry Friends

They are all so cute! This is my little cat (not so little any more). I fostered her from the local animal shelter here on Langkawi, Malaysia and she just kind of stayed. The first photo is when I just brought her to the boat and the second is her all grown up. Her name is Mouse btw

She's beautiful, amazing how they adapt so well to living on boats!

Re: Furry Friends

The name Mouse for a cat simply tickles me. How cute!

She's adorable too and looks quite content with her life afloat. Bet 'cha there's more than one reader of CruisersForum who wishes they were your cat!

Happy cruising.

Re: Furry Friends

Mouse has fallen overboard twice, the first time she was quite small and we think she was chasing a big bee and just ran of the end of the o/b which is on the back of the boat. She arrived back on board soaking wet and very indignant. Don't know how she did it.

The second time, she was jumping from the side deck to the awning, and just missed and fell in. I rushed into the cockpit to throw a towel or sarong over the help her get back, but I couldn't see her. Then I heard this yowling, saw a little bow wave, lent over the push pit and there she was climbing up the boarding ladder. She was very cross and got even crosser when I rinsed her with fresh water, like she was saying WTF I'm already wet you idiot.

Puss has fallen in a few times, she can climb the boarding ladder even if it's not folded down into the water, don't know how but needs must I suppose. When she was a kitten she fell off the bow at night (we were anchored) and swam to the stern to hold onto the rudder. She was so desperate to get herself out of the water that she climbed the rudder stock (we have an exposed rudder stock) and got stuck behind it. Luckily we'd heard her fall so managed to find her and force her back into the water to get her out, she was covered in waterproof grease which didn't want to come off even with shampoo and dishwash liquid. All our warm water that night was used to clean poor Puss.

Fluff has fallen in once and has learnt her lesson!

Wet dog:

My girl is not her most attractive when wet. Alas, she "Abandoned Ship" a bit too soon. (Missed jumping from a dinghy to the swim platform.)

And yes, there is a reason I keep the puppy shampoo under the sink in the galley.

Re: Furry Friends

This is Smoke the wonder dog, he moved from Hickory NC, to Homer AK. He has made the transition from southern aristocrat to Alaskan buoy tender just fine. When he first came aboard Rose, he anointed the rug in the hatch leading into the pilot house, so we have the stamp of approval.
