Re: Fleas on board.

Going back to ticks for a moment
And just to respectfully correct a previous poster:
Adult Ixodes ticks (deer ticks) that transmit Lyme disease are close to 3/16 of an inch across before feeding and 5/16 of an inch once engorged with blood. Considerably larger than a pin head.

Re: Fleas on board.

I second borax. In our island house we boric acid which is basically borax. Kills everything very quickly. Whenever we clean the house we make sure to spread some boric around in the corners and dark places. We then do not have a problem with roaches or other insects.

actually these are two different chemicals with entirely different uses.
borax is a soap hence base.
boric acid is formerly used as an eye wash. is also acid. hence its name.

neither is any good for stainless steel water tanks. makes holes.

Borax and Boric Acid for Insect Control [228] | David Moore

This is why we use boric acid but many of the locals use borax just as well. It seems any powder form seems to work just fine.
