If so then that gets me right at 7 PPM for 100 gl. So it seems that 1gl mixed with 200 gl of water gets you to 3.5 PPM, which is close to the recommended 1 to 2 PPM, if in fact that number is valid.
I came up with 700ppm. How did you get back to 7ppm? To get there you would have to dilute 1:10000, not 1:100.

Just to lighten things up some.

Rule #37
Don't dump all your chlorine in at the pool steps and leave the pump off.
Not mine but a friend. I keep this in my office as an example.

I purify my water tanks and plumbing whenever needed. In nine years it hasn't been needed.

I use the water in my tanks and refill when necessary. My home marina has city water (already treated). If I fill my tanks with well water I add a tablespoon or so of ordinary household bleach (unscented) to each tank. If the water is really questionable, I pass and fill up at our next destination.

Since we are drinking this water, we don't want to experiment with anything that could possibly cause us harm.

I thought I told you, I sold it a couple of weeks ago. I'm retired! Don't worry, I still have connections there and can help you out if you need something.
The new owners are real nice and they kept all of my employees.

Likely, I have a tendency to disappear on weekends working on the boat, and if it was a weekend, likely it had fell off the front page so to speak and I never saw it.
I had heard rumors, Parks and I have become friends I think even though we have never met, he has helped me several times on my refit in choosing the right products and at a very good price.
Now maybe he can get "Possum" going and enjoy life awhile.
I want to see Possum myself, as I cannot think of a better name for a trawler, it just fits.

Starbrite sold a tank cleaner that worked really well. Haven't looked for it in several years, WM sold it.

Greg
We agree that 7% is .07 and if I dilute that 100 to 1 it is now .0007 right?
I then just put .0007 into this calculator and clicked convert. Percent (%) to ppm conversion calculator | number conversion
I suck at math so I use any cheat I can

Thanks Jody, I consider you a friend too. Please call me if you get to South Florida.

Re: Pool chlorine instead of bleach to clean water tanks

I'll get through there, will be coming through in July, but likely no time to stop.
Probably be next Winter when I'll have time to stop, What is driving me this year is boat re-fit as far as chain plates and rigging, and getting the Daughter to College, but after Hurricane season I'll have plenty of time, I hope.
I'm trying to chose to not spend Hurricane season this year in Florida if I can help it, I feel as if I am running out of luck, I narrowly dodged one last year, a small one.

Agreed.

As long as you have a potable water source and you are turning over the water regularly, you shouldn't have to bleach the system very often.

We've done it a few times in the spring. Other times, we've forgotten. Never had an issue drinking the water.

Re: Pool chlorine instead of bleach to clean water tanks

https://www.troublefreepool.com/calc.html

Here's the calculator I use to calculate chlorine for my hot tub. Enter gallon or liters, what you want the ppm to be, strength of your bleach, and it will tell you how much to add. Simple, no conversions needed.

Please be aware that most granular and solid 'tabs' of pool chlorine also contain cyanuric acid as a chlorine stabilizer. It doesn't degrade over time in the water, and may build up to high levels if you are not using a lot of water but treating often. I'd just use liquid bleach and flush the system well every 6 months or so.
