Good Electric Grill

Hello all:

I have a 33 foot sailboat. I don’t have much real estate on my rails. I would, however like to obtain a grill to either mount on the boat, or at least have it as a portable unit.

The reason that I am going electric is that I’m told that many or most marinas don’t want you burning gas at the dock. So I am sort of stuck with electric. I don’t snchor out much, you see.

Does anybody have any ideas?

It if it mounts on the rail, that’s fine. Alternatively I could have something portable although as you know those things tend to get underfoot when you’re down below where space is limited.

It's not a grill. But if you're going to cook with electricity you're not going to get the Smoky flavor anyway. So this seems to be the ideal solution. Pressure cooker with air fryer.

We have an electric grill for use at the Marina. Ours is a George Forman grill.
Look on Amazon and find one you like, I got ours because of price and it has a pole it sits on, they are messy and you don’t want it on the boat when your cooking, it spatters and will make a mess over time.

Most Marina’s have grills for you to use, depends on how many there are, and if your willing to wait, I wasn’t.

We leave ours in the dock box, they are too messy to take below.

Another option to consider is a straight-out air fryer. I already own a pressure cooker so I think this is the way I'm going to go. The same YouTube channel that I linked has a bunch of videos on using one.

Marina only asked that I not bbq on weekends

I'm not affiliated with any of these products but I've been watching a bunch of videos on air fryers and this clearly shows the superiority over an electric grill. I've also found that there are ovens that are also air fryers they're a bit more expensive than the one-offs but so much more versatility.

I think you mean air fryer right? I've been looking into what are basically convection ovens but one of the main problems is I have a 1500 watt inverter and they all draw too much. They also take up a huge amount of room, are a pain to keep clean and expensive. I'm still looking into it but I think this is the ideal solution. It only draws 1000 Watts, is very compact, has to be the easiest to clean of all the options and sells for about $65. It's an air fryer lid made to fit on top of a pressure cooker but I've seen models sold with glass bowls for the cooking chamber too. I don't know if the offer is still good but the video says you can get $10 off with his link. PS it comes with a wire basket but I have a stainless steel steaming basket for my pressure cooker which would be easier to clean when doing things like chicken.

just like anything else, you put it in, set the time and temperature. There's probably hundreds of videos of people cooking steaks, cheeseburgers, chicken, shrimp ... You name it, in air fryers. here's just a quick one and it sure looks good to me, there are many more where they slice the steak open afterwards and it's super juicy. You can even put frozen meat directly into an air fryer, it just takes a little longer. If you put breaded meat on a regular grill it will burn, not so in an air fryer.

Here's one where chef Ramsay pan fries the potatoes but air fries the steak [emoji39]. It's interesting that some recipes call for preheating the oven and some don't. All recipes call for flipping halfway through. Edit: Ramsay didn't flip it that's why he preheated it.

I still think a crisplid air fryer is the way to go but if you really want a grill this one seems have the best features. quartz heating elements which means it heats up really fast and hot. they're also off to the side so they will stay clean, there's a fairly deep tray to collect all the grease and the grill seems fairly easy to clean too.
