As a matter of interest, those lower slugs are not damaged or rigged incorrectly.
That line is called a luff jackline and is set up to allow
roller furling on the boom. It allows the boltrope to take a correct shape when the sail is raised, and the sail to come aft for
furling to deal with the tack shackle setback on the boom.
It is critical to sail shape (a Doyle 2+2) on Bluestocking
