I was out there today & didn't see anything. .I must assume it has been removed. .I was also looking at where the markers are & everything looked normal to me...

You would think that the bridge controller could have told them that they were drifting out of the channel. Or maybe I've misinterpreted the scale of that chart and they were still a way offshore?

It's a little further out than what the bridge control would be concerned with.

Gotcha, that is an awesome deal you have going there!

this should be event monohullers should celebrate with champagne!

Based on my statistics of known mono keel losses, odds of survival have notched up from 41% to 44% as 2 out of 2 still alive

Enjoy

The world is full of people doing the same stupid shat over and over again that never learn their lesson so what makes you think these two will be any different.
Look to the prisons at repeat offenders for example.

But I stick to my original comment, doing stupid shat with a go fund me account pays dividends, that could well be the lesson learned.

That reminds me of yet another true story..... early 80's, Corner Inlet, an RAN patrol boat inwards to Barry Beach.... no charts or pilots for the approach to Barry Beach back then .. just some very dodgy sticks .... getting 'talked in' by the skipper of a Tidewater rig boat .... 'you leave that stick to port... no ...sorry... starboard'..... oops - too late - HMAS XXXXX is aground on a falling tide! .... rigboat skipper then plays the 'all care no responsibility' card.

One comment heard the next day... 'why didn't he put the crew over the side to scrub her.... could have said he careened her on purpose..... '

Yeah well he was a newbie and he had no insurance not even seatow when we first met. He had a crisis at home with the kids so I borrowed my van to his wife. My wife had just gotten out of hospital for gall bladder removal and could not sail. Both boats accruing slip fees in Atlantic Highlands Marina. We formed an alliance. We helped each other out, the crazy old man and the young man with no fear. While on the leg from Atlantic City to cape May he had mechical troubles and chose to go inside instead of calling seatow for assistance to cape May. He went on to fla and got another boat and another one after that . Then got sick of 5-7 knots and got an rv. He was knowledgeable and had a used car biz and repair shop. A good family man. We remain friends. When he sank another member of the alliance , whom we met in Manesquan, promised to not desert me. They helped me get to old new castle to meet up with my wife. From there we sailed to Oriental together, then parted. They , a family of five and two crew bound for Marathon, with their eye on Rio Dulce. They , in there 51 Roberts steel cutter , shipwrecked in a storm off Costa Rica, and lost everything, only what was on their backs. Cap was an experienced delivery captain. The boat was holed. When they returned from registering the boat had been totally pilfered. The good ending they are now on a circumnavigation with their patriarch. Lemonade from lemons.
And the world turns lol
