Woohoo We did it!

Long time lurker, (always learning) 2nd time poster.

It’s finally happened! After 13 years of learning, practicing, learning some more, sailing with other people, sailing on other peoples boats (probably the smartest thing) practicing some more, going on sailing trips and learning, learning, learning...............we bought a sailboat!! My lovely wife and I are the proud (pending survey) owners of a 1987 Nauticat 43. We’ve looked at boats forever and are thrilled!! This is the first day so I wanted to share it with everyone. Remember that first day?? It’s pretty cool....... So today, I set up a survey, haul out, and the about to be previous owner to be in the same place at the same time for the survey and test sail. It was fun! I’ve been dreaming about this for a long time. Our plans (what ever that means) are to sail the SF Bay Area, Delta, short ocean trips to Half Moon Bay, Drakes Bay etc for 2 years to get to know her better and then head south with the Baja HaHa and keep her in the Sea of Cortez for a while. Wish us luck!

I’d like to thank everyone on Cruisers Forum for the help, support, laughter, comedy, arguments and fodder over the years. Truly enjoyable! Now, quick question.........what anchor should I buy? JUST KIDDING

WOW! Congratulations! Take lots of pics! I have heard lots of great things about Nauticats but haven't been on one yet. When you come south, meet us out at the islands so I can get a tour of your boat!
Welcome aboard here!

As a pretty experienced boat owner and cruiser, I heartily recommend the following:

Grease gun
Caulking gun
Staple gun

And for the OP, congratulations on standing on the edge of a steep, slippery slope. Might as well just slip over the edge and continue the plunge... it's a great life!

Welcome aboard rbarzil, I note you are a long time member and short time poster. Now you got your boat stuff out of the way, you can post more stuff

Congratulations, hope you have many years of happy sailing.

Jim's list of guns you need is one short, he forgot to include a popgun!

And the most important one you hope to never need a flare gun.
Congrats on the nauticat. Just an odd question where is the hole in the water you just purchased?
(A 43 ketch just recently listed in my marina.)

re: Woohoo We did it!

Congratulations on your new girlfriend! You've bought a lifetime of adventure.

Now that you're boat owners, you should change your CF signatures in two ways -- (1) change your profile to give us your boat description so everyone doesn't ask, and (2) get the word "Rich" out of your tag line.
