Hi, Just joined the forum, have a vintage Viking 43 Motoryacht, we are interested in doing a month in the bahamas and wondered if anyone had advice regarding the crossing from West Palm Beach to West End. Thanks in advance

very easy run, especially if you have west or southwest wind. you could anchor out by peanut island and leave around 3 or 4 a.m. you should make it to west end by noon or one. no anchoring inside west end, but there is a very nice marina. we've done this crossing several times.

don't go to Lucaya, too expensive to dock, go check Sunrise Blv. Marina, just before Xanado beach, floating docks, customs and new fuel tanks. the people are nice, 24hr guard with fenses. If you go say hello to Charles, the night watchman.

from there go to Greate sale cay, then Foxtown, across foxtown there is a nice anchorage, with lobsters gloar, also you take the walk in the woods to the other side of the island and leave a souvenere there, if you go check out if mine is still there, at that time we had (Great White) and left a life jacket with our names on it. Then you go to Turtle cay. Fox town is an old fishing settelment that is still fishing to this day, there is a very small, but lovely marina, ok digny dock with a bar that serves cold beer and food with wifi.

Give John Bettandorf at Hopkins Marine in West Palm a call. He's made the crossing dozens of times. He really knows the Northern Bahamas. The phone number is 561.832.4206. If he's not in when you call, leave a message, he'll call back.

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, jostvandude.
Wait for a good weather window (NO Northern component to wind).
Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, lindaevans.
