ID:	97464 Hi , I'm so new on here, I've not had time to navigate around since I've signed up & always busy trying to get my sailboat ready for yearly safety inspections. I live on my little 28ft. Spirit ( 10) wide) I'm on lower income level, do the bottom of my own boat , do my own motor, was electrician in Army) also some in civilian life. So I do my own wiring etc. It's all I can do do get ready for Catalina. I LIVE IN San Diego, Ca. Americas Cup Harbor by Pt. Loma/ Shelter Island area. AM BY MYSELF, widowed & love fishing & ocean. Seriously, I don't even have a radar yet. I have sailing experience but so much to learn!!!!😱 I seriously need how to use this Cruisers Forum. I am 68 yrs. Young and this is my life & I hope to sail at least to Catalina this summer or next. Feel free to communicate if you come this way!! HAPOY sailing! Regards: between storms

Heya Mr. Between!

Sounds like you're havin' fun messin' about with boats...

If you haven't yet made some serious daysails or been out a ton, why don't you harbor hop towards Catalina? Oceanside, Dana point,Two Harbors... That way you're not making a 75 mile passage...

I found AN Excellent link for you!
Captain Curran's sailing log: Sailing from San Diego to Catalina Island: distance and time (Mission Bay, Oceanside, Dana Point, Avalon, Two Harbors)

Springtime Two Harbors is still giving free nights moorage... Something like 7 nights for 2 paid... Probably $50 for a week there your size...

You don't need radar if you are daylight/fog free patient...

Welcome to CF!

Welcome aboard! Not sure what you're asking about Bahamas mooring balls, but many areas have them, the well-maintained ones are well-known to be so, and the poorly maintained ones have a equally well-documented reputation. Happy cruising!
