Pilots stop in St Kitts

Hello! Im heading to St Kitts on the 26th of December thru the 2nd of Jan. i will be checking out the docks in search of diehard sailors and liveaboards just to chat about what its really like living the dream. I have been bitten by the bug and it draws me often when the oppressiveness of everyday life gets to me. (Thats pretty much everyday) If you are in the area i would love to meet and see your boat. I will show you my jet. (Ha! Wish it were mine, i just fly it)

Yes i am working that is true. I thank God for that. However, there is no way i would be able to "afford" to go there on my own. I go where the owner goes. Once in a blue moon do we go anywhere like St Kitts.

The docks at Basseterre / St. Kitts aren't that big and surprisingly few boats stay there despite the island being wonderful. The anchorage can be one of nastiest around when the swell rolls around from the windward side - my first time there was my worst night at anchor -ever-.
I highly recommend renting a car and driving around yourself - the old sugar plantations lying fallow (after the government took over the business from private owners and subsequently collapsed the industry) are nice, Brimstone Hill is not to be missed (see Winter 2010-2011 Blog and Diary 2011-02-05 for some pictures) and Rawlin's Plantation is worth a visit. Then head south to Sand Bank Bay if the wind and waves are up to watch the windsurfers and perhaps, if you have time, take the ferry across to Nevis from Major's Bay and visit that charming island.
