New to us LN41

Hello from land locked central Ohio!

After being boatless the past two years the First Mate and I made an offer that was accepted on a Lord Nelson 41. Now comes the survey and sea trials when the ice is gone. The previous owners had started the restoration of Fair Wind, installed a new 75hp Yanmar with new drivetrain and exhaust, peeled and relayed the bottom, new hoses, tankage, etc. but there is still much to do. The teak decks are in sorry shape (but laid over solid fiberglass), the portlets and hatches need rebedding, the running rigging looks original as are the sails.

We will be keeping the boat on Lake Erie the next couple of years then relocating south. As we have been away from boating for a bit, and our last sailboat was 8 years ago, can anyone recomend good yards, riggers or people in the Port Clinton/Sandusky area? And any thoughts on how to attack the remaining issues myself?

I have enjoyed reading others problems and solutions here. Keep up the good work!

Mike

Congratulations on a great boat.

My previous boat was a LN 35.

Aloha Mike,
Welcome aboard! Congratulations. I've always admired their looks but haven't been aboard a Lord Nelson.
Kind regards,
JohnL

Thanks!! They seem to have a good reputation as a cruising boat and we were impressed by their "livability". Now if only this darn ice would melt.........
