New Owner!

Hello Everyone! Happy Holidays!

New to the forum and boat ownership!

I have been sailing my whole life but just recently purchased a Perry 41. Im pretty excited to see how it goes as it needs some work to get it going. Ill try to keep you updated on how the work goes and the adventures with it!

Re: New Owner!

Welcome to the world of boat maintenance!

I tell people often that I used to do a lot more sailing before I started buying boats. You've done a lot of sailing so you probably won't dramatically increase your sailing skills, but will dramatically increase your boat maintenance knowledge.

Re: New Owner!

Hi Pat!

Congratulation to your purchase and work you have done on the boat! She look like a great Lady!

So, i found your blog in the net doing Research on the perry 41, as i choosed her as one of my favorite hull/boat shapes! i am right know very much interested in "china doll", laying in Oxnard/ca and offered on yacht world.

i have already lots of add. info and pics from the Broker/Owner and a walk through survey ahead of me. So, Pat i want to ask you how she sails and i appreciate if you possibly have some more Infos about the Litton Perry 41 available for me.

I couldn found something on the net, neighter on the cheoy lee owners, not on sailboatdata neighter on the perry Website..

Thank you for your reply in advance!
cheers Tom

Thanks! She is a pretty boat and nice design. I had a hard time finding information on it as well. I haven't updated the blog recently, but I just got back from a 3 weeks cruise/sea trial on her and she sails great! In 15kts breeze we averaged 6.5kts. We also took her out in some bad weather (30-35kt breeze and 8-10ft waves) and she handled it nicely. It is nice having the stay-sail to reduce sail to when it blows. I talked to Bob Perry, the designer, and he said that the midsection is very simmilar to a Valiant 40 with different ends, IE no canoe stern...

So far I am very pleased with her and still have a ton of work to do. Be careful if it still has teak decks as I had a lot of rotten interior that had to be ripped out and replaced. As well as the entire deck being re-cored.

If you need any more advice or info let me know! Shoot me an e-mail: patr1707 @ gmail . com

Pat!

Re: New Owner!

My Passport 47 was a great boat under staysail and 2 reefs even going into the wind at 35 knots. Stable flat and moving 8+ knots... Very similar underbody I would guess.

Re: New Owner!

John

thanks for the info on "Alita Marie"- i have already checked on her- but with 60tsnd and old looking teak decks she´s far beyond. As you´r a "senior cruiser" whats your impression on the price for an average condition perry 41 like "china doll" in oxnard on yachtworld?! cheers
