New Member Freezing in Florida

There has been too little sailing weather for us fair weather sailors this winter in Florida. Therefore spending valuable sailing time cleaning up, refitting, and customizing s/v 'Sweet Pea' and I've found a lot of valuable information here already. Many thanks and greetings from Sarasota. Richard

Welcome aboard! Sorry to hear about your weather woes...up here in new york we sail every nite, but the kids complain as the cruising destinations are limited in the bathtub!
But look on the bright side, you will be ahead on your
maintenance list...and the weather should be coming around soon...again here in new york we are probably,
lets says, a week or two behind you!

I feel your pain!

Welcome Richard,

I'm in the same position up here in the panhandle, our bay has frozen over twice and right now the wind chill is 37 with 27 knot gusting winds. This has definitely been the coldest, rainiest winter I've ever seen. Of course this would be the year that my wife and I decided to move aboard! Hopefully the warm weather will be here soon and this will all be a faded memory.

Hang In

It has been cooler than normal here westcoast Florida, cold fronts come and go but we do get some good days to go sailing, wear extra clothing when going out but still beats up north in NY where I lived most of my life and now this being my second winter living and doing way more sailing here in Charlotte Harbor than when up on Long Island ,NY.

You should try winter in Miami, only a few "no sail" days.
Today was gorgeous, in the 70s and 8 knots Ne

From Fort Worth to Tarpon Springs = 1100 miles. Hell I coulda just drove to Oakalahoma. I want Florida to get here. It is cold. Thank god I have an electric blanket or I would have had to get at least 2 more dogs or one woman.... I think I would get the dogs now that I think about it.

Three days ago (3/27/10), Puget Sound, flat calm and 65 degrees! Dang me, I love El Nino! Leave the SUV Idelling in the driveway hoping it will help with global warming... Just hope it doesn't mess up the fishing this summer. Best part is its raining in California and we won't have to suffer another summer of lead news stories about "devastating fires!"

I hope you were not expecting much sympathy from me about your weather!

Is spring finally here? Finally seeing 80s in Keys. Will be heading your way in a couple days. We spend time in Tampa bay each year to work on boat and look up old friends. Welcome to forum!
