New member - cruising the chesapeake

Hello, I just joined and look forward to many discussions. My boat is in Solomons MD and will be cruising in the Chesapeake this summer and then to the Bahamas again in the fall. I hope to cruise down the Abacos on this voyage.

Welcome Aboard! If you pass thru Miami, give us a shout. If you've not been there before, you'll love the Abacos. We spent many happy months there and in the Exumas.

Joe,
You should be able to get into No Name Harbour at the southern end of Key Biscayne, but I'd double check with the Crandon Park rangers to verify the depth is adequate (shoaling). The best anchorages are on the north side of Watson Island, just off the MacArthur Causeway and off Dinner Key in Coconut Grove. Stay away from Miami beach as they're notoriously rude to boaters and have passed laws limiting anchoring.

If you need more info on how to get to the two anchorages, let me know.

Good Luck and welcome to Miami.

Aloha Joe,
Welcome aboard! Good to have you here. I learned something about where to anchor.
Kind regards,

Hello, Joe.

I used to live about 50 nm south of Solomons, and would stop in there on cruises north and south. Hope you enjoy the Forum!
