Re: NEW LIVABOARD SOON

Don't expect to spend very much time at home unless the commuting is easier.

Re: New Liveaboard... Soon!

Hey.. nice to have you here.

That is exactly what our family is doing.. We are looking at a Lagoon 560..

I had previous sailing experience but hadn't been in the water for some time, and the wife and kids never. After much consideration and consultation with people who are much more intelligent we decided to start on a larger monohull and then move up in 2 or 3 steps.

And Here is Why.

Experience Required - If you are looking at financing or insuring that larger catamaran your insurer and financier will likely not even consider you a good risk without verifiable experience.. Unless you are hiring a captain you will need to step up.

The "Is this for us?" question - Cruising and living on a boat may not suit your lifestyle.. We felt it was best again to spend 10's of thousands before shelling out $$$$$$$ and then finding out it was all a horrible mistake.

We are now getting ready to step up from our first boat and looking at a larger Mono or a smaller cat for weekends and holidays... We'll do that for a year or two then move up to the 560.
