Hi, just registered but have been reading for a few months. I'm pretty excited to be here because of all the really great
advice and information.
I've owned a small sailboat with which to learn basic sailing. I had an instructor for a day and went from there. I've always been so intrigued by sailing, but living and growing up in Colorado makes it a bit difficult. I live at 10,000 feet...
My interest began when I was about 11 years old, and I read about Robin Lee Graham in National Geographic. But I never really thought it would be possible to live a cruiser's life....but I've come to realize that...yes I can.
My plan is to retire from teaching, buy a
boat and
cruise until I'm too old or infirm to do so....and maybe then simply sail off into the sunset....who knows...
I have two years to go, have been reading an awful lot and researching boats. I'm not gonna ask a lot of questions because most of them are already answered in these pages....many times from conflicting or opposing viewpoints. And that's a good thing in order to see the different points of view and make informed decisions. Of course, this isn't the only forum that I read....but I do enjoy the people here...
I've been reading a to of John Vigor as he seems to have a style of writing that I enjoy and a lot of very practical knowledge.
So, thanks for having me here and I look forward to
learning more and more.
George
