Looking to crew

Hi All,

I'm 60 yrs old, in very good health, now semi-retired, and looking to do some sailing as the weather turns warmer, and would be happy to crew. I don't have a huge amount of sailing experience, but am certainly capable.

I have the US Sailing Certifications/Endorsements:
- ASA 101 - Basic Keelboat Sailing
- ASA 103 - Basic Coastal Cruising
- ASA 104 - Bareboat Cruising
- Catamaran Endorsement

My wife and I sailed in a week-long flotilla in Belize in Feb, 2024. I skippered our Leopard 45', sharing duties w/ our 3 boat mates.
I skippered a 40' Bali Catspace for a week in the BVI in Dec, 2022.
My son and I took a week-long Colgate Offshore Sailing course in June, 2022 in the BVI, where we both earned the certs listed above.
My son and I have also rented a 19' Flying Scot a couple of times at the Washington, DC Sailing Marina.

Please reach out to me if you'd like more info.

Thanks
Bill

Re: Looking to crew

What parts of the world are you willing to travel to? How long do you want to crew? Are you interested in coastal or ocean passages only, or live aboard cruising that may incidentally include longer passages but typically stay places for several days? Is it just you, or also your wife and/or son?

Re: Looking to crew

Since I live in MD, I'm mostly interested in helping crew day sailors out of Annapolis or Washington, D.C., though I'd be very intrigued to help someone sail up or down the U.S. East Coast.

I'm fairly sure my son would enjoy similar sailing opportunities, but his time is a bit more restricted by his college schedule.

My wife would likely be more interested in helping day sailors in our area.

While my wife and I would be interested in sailing in various other places around the world, we'd likely want to be in more control of our itinerary (rather than as just deck hands) if we were going to make a major trip out of it.

Re: Looking to crew

Welcome to CruisersForum!

I would suggest updating your profile with your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.

Re: Looking to crew

I don’t own a boat, which is why I’m interested in helping crew.
