My name is Jan van Hooff and I live in the Amsterdam area. A main interest of mine is navigation (- software and charts .) I sail occasionally not owning my own yacht.

Hi Jan - welcome aboard.

I love navigation, but although I rely on my chartplotter while actually sailing, I still get more satisfaction by planning my day on a paper chart. I never seem to get the "big picture" on a screen.

Welcome Jan. You're the best kind of person to have as a crew member. I've been sailing 45 years now. Always with paper charts and a GPS Lat/Long only. Picked up my first used Chart plotter here on the classifieds. A real learning curve for me. I plan on having crew with your knowledge. You will no doubt find the category of OpenCPN useful.
