Hi from Port Moody, BC

I just wanted to say "hello" and introduce myself.

I was introduced to boats at age 8 and I've been in love with the sea ever since.

After some time away from boating, our best friend re-introduced my wife and I to sailing in 1995, and this time the "bug" bit. We joined a sailing co-op that year, learning to sail 20' day sailors. From there, we graduated to Catalina 27's. I caught the sailing bug so bad that I became a sailing instructor and a yacht broker. Although I eventually moved on to better income sources, sailing is in my blood.

In 2009, we agreed that while a co-op is a great place to learn, buying our own boat was the best way to make sure that the boat was maintained to our standards. One Mirage 29' and 18 months later, here we are.

BTW, the previous owner named our boat, about 3 years before the movie came out. We bought the boat at the same time that the movie came out; and decided that "Avatar" was a lot more original than my next choice: "This End Up"

In the last 18 months, I have confirmed that I really enjoy boat maintenance. For me, working on the boat is downright relaxing, and there is always more to learn. Any tips or tricks that I pick up here will be put to good use.

Welcome from a fellow Canuck, although we are on the other side of the pond right now, we still have our cottage on Kennebec Lake, Ontario and we fly the Maple Leaf with pride.
You will find this forum to be the best and most friendly source of information on the net and I know that you will enjoy it.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I would enjoy having you practising your maintenance skills on my boat anytime you feel like it.
Hop over to Lowestoft, don’t bother with tools, I have all of those, I’ll provide the Molson’s and happily sit back and let you catch up with my endless job jar…James
