Hello to all from Melbourne, Australia.

Hello to all and thank you for welcoming me into your threaded community. I'm new here and into your world so excuse any mistakes till I get up and running.
I joined this forum and community because I recently bought a 16' Prindle Catamaran from a guy at work and figure I should learn something about it before I put it onto the water.
I have been out before, about 20 years ago, I'm 43, but the few times I went out the catamaran was already set up, I just had to sail around then bring it back in.
You all understand more than others what I mean when I say that from that first 1 hour on the water, I was hooked.
I bet everyone who didn't grow up on a boat remembers that first time they went out on one.
You can't even explain it to friends, you either love it or don't get it.
It doesn't even matter how many times the boom hits you in the head on that first attempt, or maybe because of.

Anyway, I have two kids, boys 6 and 3, and hope to introduce them to something I never got to experience, we'll see how they go.
"Does your wife enjoy sailing?" I hear you ask.
Well....um....let's just say it probably would have helped if I had mentioned something before driving up the driveway with the cat hooked to the back of the car.
Me - So, what do you recon?
Her - What the F**K.
Us - Silence

It didn't help later that night when I said " You know, I could name it after you."

Anyway, you either love it or you don't get it. Right?

Hope to "meet" a few of you and ask some questions here and there.
All the best to everyone and
Bye for now.

Re: Hello to all from Melbourne, Australia.

Take her sailing. Don't turn the cat over. Might want to get her a wet suit and she may enjoy it even more.

My wife prefers sailing in a cat. There is hope.

Re: Hello to all from Melbourne, Australia.

Welcome aboard! The first time I sailed with my wife, I rented a 16' Hobie cat from the pension we were at in Huahine. It was all tricked out with trapezes and other stuff I had no idea how to use. We had a great time until I flipped it! I thought that was the end of our sailing together...but, of course, it wasn't. So there's hope!
