Hello from North Carolina

Let me introduce myself - I am not a sailor, but a retired Golf Course Builder. Once I found some time on my hands, I promised myself I would catch up on fishing. My residence is in Ocean Isle, NC. I learned very quickly that there were not many good fishing charts available, so I started making my own. This hobby grew into a full-time job - especially when I learned how to write Lat/Lon fishing coordinates to various "chips" for modern GPS plotters. The Pro Chip was born.

I do not want to violate any terms or rules of this forum, but over the years, I keep getting calls about charts for the ICW. My intent here is to find the proper way to introduce my ICW Pro Chip to the boaters that travel the ICW.

Is there any interest in a memory chip that has all of the pertinent data (anchorages, ramps, marinas, bridges, chandleries, lodging, restaurants, etc.) on a chip ready to upload instantly?

Thanks,
Capt. John

John, I think there is a market but you are going to hear from
ACtive Captain who is making his living doing this on the internet. You might want to check out his web site to see how you differ. And I believe you do because it sounds like yours will work without an internet connection. I have sworn to never do the ICW again, otherwise . . . I'd be interested.

G'Day Pro,

Welcome to CF... but I have to wonder if you really understand this retirement thing?

Can't help on the ICW query... never been there, never want to go... but good luck with your venture.

Cheers,

Hmm, competition between suppliers is normally good for customers.

I would look at the card formats for the following electronic navigation systems with a view to supplying a new card that can be just inserted.

Raymarine
Garmin
Furuno
Standard Horizon

Didn't realise Active Captain needed an internet link to work, that sucks.
