Hello from Alaska

I have sailed my Islander 36 in the Hampton Roads area for about 3 1/2 years (evenings, weekends, and vacations). My husband and I finally decided we wanted to become full time cruisers. The house and the boat are on the market and we came to Anchorage, AK to make some money for a cruising kitty. We are seriously looking at catamarans for a boat to cruise on long term.

So far it has been a great adventure and we are looking forward to being on the water.

Pretty hard to beat a great adventuer. The idea is it all is supposed to be fun so your off and satrting. Good luck with all the money soide of things I can see that it takes a lot of effort. If you make a plan and you start working it it might just work.

Lots of good stuff here to help you with all the details.

Aloha Soon,
Welcome aboard! Is your Islander a Freeport? I got to tour one that an owner was redoing and it looks like a nice layout for liveaboard.
Kind regards,
JohnL

I think the Islander Freeports are the newer models of ours. We really like the Islander and have had lots of fun on it, but we want something a little bigger to live on. We've discussed for a few years the pros and cons of cats versus monohulls and keep ending up back at cats.

There is a classified section on this forum if you'd like to list your Islander there.
Kind regards,

Hello Soon2Bcruiser!

Definitely go for it.

I'm in Anchorage, AK visiting this week. Not on the boat sorry to say.

Best of luck,

Tim
