Smile Greetings All Sailors

This is just a short message to introduce myself. My boyfriend and I have a Beneteau 473 Iolanthe (the naughty fairy) on the Clyde in bonny Scotland and have been sailing this boat since April 2011... what a lovely boat she is to sail. My first impressions was that she would be too large to handle but she is a dream. Before this boat we had a beneteau first 32s5 which was a lively boat to sail for our first boat, and we learned a great deal.

This year our plan is to further explore the western Isles, so if you see us out there come and say Hi, as we always like making new friends.

Re: Greetings all sailors

Welcome from another blue hulled Bene 473 owner, although located in Liverpool, not quite as scenic as where you are.
They are nice boats to sail, usually single hand mine, gets easier after each trip
I'll keep an eye out for you later in the year, whereabout on the Clyde are you.
Just waiting on a break in the weather this week to make a run down to Wales.

Re: Greetings all sailors

Hi Nigel 1,
We are located in Ardrossen and we have sailed into Liverpool marin, interesting tides in the Mersey very fast.. Where in Wales are you off to? We have done quite a bit of sailing around there in our other boat.
Do you also sail with your dog too? mine is a Jack Russell and she thinks she is a Queen as she strolls around the deck.

Re: Greetings all sailors

Hi Minnie,

Intend to sail to Deganwy, setting off at HW Friday morning, so should be in Deganwy that evening, then back to Liverpool on Saturday.
Dog will be staying at home this time, bit too cold for her this time of year.
Hope you made it through yesterdays storms OK, bit blustery to say the least.

Cheers and happy new year

Re: Greetings all sailors

Hi Minnie,

Yes, we had the surgery last year. Wasn't too painful, if you forget the withdrawal symptoms that is:-).

As I said on the avatar, we've now got a Super Van Craft 1320. It is a 1964 Gentlemans Launch. Plods along on the smell of an oily rag, draws lots of attention, rocks and rolls at sea, and is for ideal for rivers and canals. We spent last summer exploring some waterways in France and learnt lots. It was good.

But I have to be honest I'm actually not sure how much longer we will remain with Matilda.

She may be pretty - but shes not a sailing boat - and the withdrawal symptoms don't get any less painful as each month passes........

Cheers
JOHN

Re: Greetings all sailors

Hi,
You know your Gilbert and Sullivan.. I'm impressed.. as for poor Iolanthe, she is anything but poor. Looks after her crew really well and we love her to bits... Would not hear a wrong word said about her...... So Bash what boat do you sail and are you having fun?
