Greetings all!

I'm Frank, and new to the sailing community. I've always dreamed since I was a child about living aboard a sailboat for a year and attempting a slow but complete circumnavigation. I'm mid-20s and so far happily unwed so as soon as I finish this leg of military service I decided I'm going to liquidate my assets and give it a shot before I get too tied down, hopefully sail for a year then come back to the military with some fresh experience and motivation.

I've sailed on-and-off since I was 14 when I learned at a Boy Scout camp and any chance I got I'd take out a lazer on the lake and a few times I used a 25' Bayliner with some friends to get to dive spots around Puget Sound. Hopefully here I can read up and get the cajones to live it instead of dream it

Re: Greetings all!

Welcome to the Forum.

I've been in the Army for 15yrs and plenty of others who are either active or retired military around here as well.

Good luck on following your dreams. Be sure to research everything as you go along.

Welcome "shipmate" ;-) Old Navy here too. I was a bubble-head, so these floaty boats were a real change! I love your plan, even without details, it's one of the best posted here (and there are a LOT)!

The only thing I would point out is a year is a very FAST trip around by most standards. IF it were me and I only had a year, I'd only do the Caribbean, or S. PAC., or great loop (well that's an old guy trip), or Mexico to Alaska....well you get the idea.
