Mahalo John hope your having a great day in Hilo, I used to live there many years ago but never found any sailors to meet up with. Funny, you get on a sailing forum and meet everyone.

The sailing clubs were quite a secret. Really have to search to find them until now. We've got quite a beach contingent on the town side of Wailoa River.

Of course you found Hilo Yacht Club, the yacht club with no boats?

hilo-sailing.org is the club with boats and boatowners.

There seems to have been a great tradition of yacht clubs without boat owners on the Big Island. The Keauhou Yacht Club on the Kona side has been here since we arrived in '77, still looking for a boat or any other sign of association with the ocean from that club. The Kona Sailing Club is quite active at Honokohau Harbor but limited facilities other than trailer boat storage.

In any case, Aloha. At least the Lahaina Yacht Club has a decent bar.
