Hi there, everyone! Stumbled upon the site while searching for a J/80 and thought it would be a useful resource in my endeavor. We are a family of boaters with a focus on power-boating (don't ban me yet), but we've been around sailboats on and off through friends for awhile.

My dad and I have decided it's time to get a day sailer/racer and are pretty well settled on a J/80 because the size and purpose is perfect for us. Now we just need to find a nice one! We live in Chicagoland and would be sailing in Lake Michigan. Although it would mostly be for fun, we may dabble in a "for-fun" regatta. Fortunately my job is flexible and has unlimited "sick" days.

I like the J80 design too. Looks like a lot of fun.

I have sailed many miles on a J24, J35, and J42.

The J80 should be fast, and fast is fun. And wet.
