Just a thought, but if you plan on doing this one-way or just short-term, why not rent a truck that's capable of towing your boat? A brand-new full-size pickup should be more than adequate to get your boat all the way down to Florida or elsewhere.

Fords late 1990's thru about 2004 with a 7.3L turbo diesel are work horses.. some of the f series can tow 10k lbs.


Dodge, in later models i read can tow 15k lbs.



in either case, i would go diesel over gas, but I believe the king of towing id Dodge.
