The old protocol wasn't even developed by the CDC or for the US. The new protocol is far more protective of the public and of health care workers. I think it's a huge step toward limiting the spread of Ebola. In addition, both Presbyterian Hospital and Dallas in general have new procedures for handling potential cases.

I applaud all from the CDC to the hospital to local health officials in Dallas for carefully examining things and admitting their mistakes and weaknesses in Protocol. I believe that is resulting in some tremendous improvements. Perhaps Dallas will even serve as an excellent "before" and "after" for other cities when they encounter their first case. Had this protocol and these procedures been in place, two people who have Ebola in all probability would not have. Two people in millions doesn't sound like much but that's how viruses go from rare to epidemic, one person at a time.

Well I guess I won't be returning the remaining hazmat suits and respirator units after I finish my asbestos removal project.

Well, you don't meet the new protocol in that suit anyway. You have exposed skin.

Nope, no exposed skin. Your looking through the plastic that is part of that mask. I hate the flippin' thing. Hot, sweaty and uncomfortable. But my guess is is it is good enough for asbestos dust and hantavirus, it should be for ebola.

Couldn't see the plastic. Obviously it's not Strataglass...lol. Yes, I'm sure it is uncomfortable, but not as much so as Mesothelioma. I think uncomfortable seems to accompany all safety equipment.

Nope, still doesn't count. You have to duct tape all seals, including around the facepiece.

And when you arrive at the ED in the ambulance, you have to stay in the (specially plastic lined) ambulance until the appropriate decon team arrives (which I'm also qualified in, unfortunately). As in lock yourself in and don't step out... Then everything you are wearing gets incinerated, except your boots, which get soaked in bleach and reused. Kinda scratching my head on that last bit... I think I would pop for new ones, out of pocket...

If you refuse to accept the facts, they don't appear real -- to you.

Seems to me that you've shaken out a few reefs and put away the foulies from your earlier posts.

Just a few days ago you were stating as fact that the virus is airborne and accusing me of being delusional for saying otherwise. Sorry, but you completely lack credibility on this subject.

And you have no credibility to criticize my credibility.

All right gentlemen, settle down. I think we are all overjoyed that it does not appear to have spread much more. May the next potential plague go the same way.
