after sailing thru t-storms at night at 10+kts in 71 kt winds in gulf mixmaster seas and no moon, methinks the last thing left to conquer is fear of heights and lightning. both have solid basis,not imaginary reasons.

oh,yes--whether the boat is mine or thine--dont sink my damn boat. LOL wanna go sail????? i am almost ready....

"most women" ?, "normal women" ? No such things, I'd say! We're each pretty unique, as are men.

One additional aspect that I think concerns many women about the cruising lifestyle is the lack of a close circle of friends, often referred to as a 'support system'. Just as with romantic relationships, long distance ones are never the same. So even with wi-fi, Skype, etc. the circle isn't "there" in the same way.

The intense hothouse of a 2 person all day everyday relationship, as found in most cruising couples, is not for everyone. Men included. Many couples don't do well without a lot of time apart. Retirement is often a crisis in even a very long term relationship for this reason.

So I'm not sure that there's any way to "reassure" someone for whom this is a problem. Better to try out living in a bubble together for awhile to see if you can satisfy each other.

ME: A sharp 27 year old male, Getting ready to embark on another adventure in life. This ones gonna be the biggest yet. I have a lot of boat to not share with someone. I am going to be leaving Canada to head for the warmer climates this fall, and I am looking to meet some people along the way. To others I am definetly one who live's outside "The Box". However to me... I am living life the way I want to, and that seems pretty normal to me!

What do I fear?
Keel bolts (especially over ten years old)
crew that doesn't keep a good watch
A careless captain
A fearless captain

What makes me feel safe?
Good sound hull (ie glassed in keel, w/attached rudder)
well maintained through hulls
new (ish) rigging
a good watch on deck so I can sleep down below
A humble captain
a cautious captain
a competent captain.

Sleeping while someone else is on watch is my biggest challenge. Finding a man that can keep as good of a watch as me, now that is the key.


BTW- barbie has a boat too, I got one for chirstmas when I was 8

I like keel boats, thick solid fiberglass, Dry hull, new hoses and TH's.

Working electrical systems... as in no intermitent issues like "lucas wiring.. in an MG"....

Oh, I can cook, clean and have been taking care of myself for 25 yrs.... Just looking for that other "half"... Where oh where is she....

I've never seen a Barbie with a sailboat. I've seen some Barbie bow ornaments. The other day I say a six year-old girl in the back seat of an SUV, watching the dropdown video screen with her feet up on the back of the driver's seat wearing 3" high heels. I have to think that is child abuse.
