Re: Single Sailors Seeking Soul Mate Group

Ocean Girl, best wishes on your nuptials. Marriage - what a surprise!

jtallen and Feral, sincere congrats to you both! Happy Days. Feral, your boat is beautiful.

Yeah, Monkey, come party in NC! And Zeezee, I wouldn't have picked Cedros, but the Baja desert is bee-yutiful.

I'm about to leave the dock in Nassau, having had some repairs done, and will be heading to Eleuthera. I'll be thinking of all y'all.

Margo

The Puerto Escondido Zee's referring to is approx. 15 miles south of Loreto, also a very nice town. Yard in PE is managed by an American, and PE is a good spot to hole up in. I'm tempted to stop telling people about it because it's getting crowded.

Re: Single Sailors Seeking Soul Mate Group

I think you should put wheelie things on you Formosa and turn it into a duck boat...then you can drive east to the Gulf of Mexxxiko and sail with boatyKatt to BVI!

Re: Single Sailors Seeking Soul Mate Group

i can do bvi sans wheelies..lol there are a few places with depth i can use--lol peter island is 30 ft deep next to beach--great for pirates in days of old.... norman is deep enough for me also..the shallows are for others--i will stay in deep areas... but i will do virgin islands..boatkat smelled some virgin island smells when i returned from there in dec 2008

Lat 38 write-up is mostly not related to actual at PE; and I hear that Richard has a legal beef with one of the "participants" in the squabble. When I left on May 11th, about 25 boats had pulled in in that week.

Re: Single Sailors Seeking Soul Mate Group

Hi all!

Well I've made it to Spanish Wells in (mostly) one piece. My boat kitty Wallace is doing just fine. Hides when the engine runs or the boat heels, then comes out to gossip when all is quiet.

Went to Governors Harbor, Eleuthera. A beautiful little town, lots of neat little bungalows on the hills surrounding the harbor, lots of flowers hanging on everything. Only problem, the holding in the harbor is bad: rocky or sand over rock (unless you draw 3 feet and can pull right up to the beach), and the moorings don't really exist. Then sailed north and anchored in a rockin & rollin cove, then on to see the so called "glass window". I couldn't see anything - I think you have to have a much taller boat to see over the rubble under the bridge to the Atlantic.

I think I've figured out why Eleuthera isn't visited much by cruisers. It's rocky, with some very high cliffs. Very few place to duck in out of the weather, and those have either rocky or grassy bottoms. The Exumas are so much more conducive to meandering, and stopping wherever you want.

I hope to leave here very soon for Abaco - weather permitting. The crossing is open to the Atlantic so I watch out for big seas.

Still doing this alone. Still not liking that part. And that's the good news and the bad news!

Love to you all, Margo

The 8 ball says "future is unclear". My boat will be there about June 10. But I have an offer to crew for someone taking his boat out the St. Lawrence and down the coast starting June 15. So I may not be in the Chesapeake until July.

When are you going to do some sailing? So sad you're desk bound.

Margo
