Re: FOURTH NATIONAL CLIMATE ASSESSMENT

Hysterical. I think only a few percent of the respondents actually read the report. Embarrassing for you.

Ha! - I knew you wouldn't be able resist.

That's wonderful Googling. You're assuming that there is a direct correlation between atmospheric CO2 levels and average global temperature changes ascribed to climate change. You might be surprised to see, should you choose to Google so, that most all experiments attempting to demonstrate this correlation typically involve many magnitudes higher concentrations of CO2 compared to atmospheric values (with actual values seldom quoted), or sneakily introduce a pressure differential to skew results.

Re: FOURTH NATIONAL CLIMATE ASSESSMENT

From the NASA web site. You know, the guys that are actually rocket scientists (but also have a few folks from other disciplines working there).

Does anyone seriously believe that they know more than all these thousands of scientists and engineers? If it was just a few lunatic fringe "experts" I could see an argument but against this list????? Take note of a few very reputable groups on the list like the Woods Hole Oceanagraphic Institute.

I challenge anyone on this forum to come up with a similar list of reputable scientists and organizations that deny climate change is influenced by human behavior.

"Multiple studies published in peer-reviewed scientific journals show that 97 percent or more of actively publishing climate scientists agree*: Climate-warming trends over the past century are extremely likely due to human activities. Five minutes on the internet shows that these opinions have been refuted and rejected by their peers. Among other idiocies, Jaworowsky claimed leaded gasoline didn't cause harm or increased levels of lead in people.

The harm from TEL in gasoline was completely verified by the the medical and scientific communities.

Surely not! I'm sure a whole bunch of Central African countries have conducted copious amounts of independent research into the issue and arrived at their own independent conclusions. And I, for one, consider the research findings of that quaint former Eastern bloc nation Moldova to be top of the heap when it comes to research you can believe in.

Re: FOURTH NATIONAL CLIMATE ASSESSMENT

Uh,well, returning to the original post, regarding our own government's assesment, which states in its Summary right off the bat:

"Global annually averaged surface air temperature has increased by about 1.8°F (1.0°C) over the last 115 years (1901–2016). This period is now the warmest in the history of modern civilization. The last few years have also seen record-breaking, climate-related weather extremes, and the last three years have been the warmest years on record for the globe. These trends are expected to continue over climate timescales.

This assessment concludes, based on extensive evidence, that it is extremely likely that human activities, especially emissions of greenhouse gases, are the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid-20th century. For the warming over the last century, there is no convincing alternative explanation supported by the extent of the observational evidence."

Shall we then just dismiss this all as drivel and purely biased pseudo-science?

Yes....Trump colluded with the Russians.

Sorry hosted Movie night here in La Paz, showed Captain Ron as our kick off season opener, so I missed a few pages of Excess CO2 while I was away. But if you want to make a difference and save the world, get off the internet....do you know how much power the WWW uses in server farms and data storage facilities? Ah....but that's too big a sacrifice to make....some would rather force what they deem best on others.

Re: FOURTH NATIONAL CLIMATE ASSESSMENT

BTW the CSSR has plenty of graphs and data to refer to. No need to google anything. But if it's all fake then no need to look.

Yep, then I researched the authors credentials and reputations.

In case you have further doubts or questions, I have a degree in EE which included in depth courses in chemistry and materials science. For the last 28 years I've been in the chemical business buying, selling and trading with many of the major petrochemical companies including Shell, Exxon, BASF, Dow, Dupont to name a few. So I am not exactly an extremist, anti technology, anti fossil fuels fringe group wacko and do have a bit of first hand exposure to the technical side of things. So yea, I can read a scientific paper and only have to get out the dictionary for the really long words.
