I guess I am getting old, way back when newspaper classified listings were the primary way to sell a boat American boat listing would call you about your ad and and would try to pull a slick sales job on listing with them - I guess some thing are the same even when they change.

Re: American Boat Listing

The way they market their service is kind of sleazy but, I listed my old wooden Crocker with them and received calls from all over the states and ended up selling to a man from the Canadian Gaspe Peninsula. I ended up with a little more than I was originally asking for. I have to say it did work well for my purposes.

Wow, after seven years, exactly one first-time poster has exactly one good thing to say about them.

Re: American Boat Listing

@hellosailor. I actually sold the boat back in 2008 and I realise that wooden boats fall into a niche market. As I said though, their marketing approach is kind of sleazy. I would consider using them again as $500 as opposed to a brokers commission of $7,000 to 10,000 does make sense.

Re: American Boat Listing

I know that SOMEONE, and my hazy and possibly wrong memory is that it was ABL, made an offer on some of the forums when they first were starting up. Send them your name and email and some other information, and they'd send you a free mainsail cover, IIRC with their name on it.

As I say, hazy and possibly wrong memory, but whoever was making the offer never sent them out. ABL seems like the type of place where I'd list my boat so I could tell a divorce lawyer "See? I' ve got it listed, it just won't sell!"
