Shore Power Cooling system for a 30 foot boat

Currently I have a window unit that's dropped down to my forward hatch. The unit does alright, yet it gets in the way when I throw the sheets up. I'm hoping to find a good portable unit. Any suggestions on what I should get? I'm really not looking to spend over $200 bucks on a unit. Will a Evaporating cooling unit work? Just trying to get some ideas on what to get, for a good price. I Have a Pearson 30 that it's going into.
Thanks, Wes

Re: Shore Power Cooling system for a 30 foot boat

For the last 4 years at the marina or when drydocked we use this Chigo portable Air Con
http://chigo.gmc.globalmarket.com/pr...er-143864.html

Works really well to cool my large aft cabin - office area in the tropics and even cools down the engine room a bit when working there

I installed it semi permanently in the cabin access space to aft lazarette by building a sealed box (for the cool return) and then piping the hot exhaust out the lazarette hatch.

Saves hours/ maintenance on the built in Marine Aire units and we leave it ashore when sailing.
