Port Aransas Municipal Marina....

....no longer accepting liveaboards.

We are currently in Galveston, but considering moving farther south as it gets colder. We took a road trip to check out options a couple of days ago. I went into the Harbormaster's office to ask which slips were for liveaboards. I was told that they were no longer accepting liveaboards, as of August. (They need to update their website
Port Aransas)

Island Moorings is much nicer, but also much more expensive. They do still take liveaboards, and the marina is much nicer. However, not close to much. There is a trolley that runs to town (very affordable at 25 cents each way).

Anyone south of Galveston happy where you are? We'd love to go to Port Isabel, but not sure about facilities there. Anyone?

We also checked out Rockport, but not feelin it there. We did not check out Corpus Christi Municipal, but I've been there in the past. Not sure we'd like it there.

Ralph, rumor is that this is a temporary situation. How temporary? Don't know. We've visited Sea a Ranch... If you draw over 5 feet... And its a bit run down.

Re: Port Aransas Municipal Marina....

Hey thanks. We'll probably hang out here for the winter. I have some projects ahead, and the Kemah/Galveston area has just about anything I will need. Probably not the case in Port A and Port Isabel. It does look like some skinny water down south.

People who live at Bahia seem to love, love, love it. Have not spent any time there personally, but met many people who swear by it.

Is Bahia the one at Ingleside? If so, we didn't check it out unfortunately. Thanks for the info.

That is the one. We never seriously considered it because it is for sure not a good place to be in a hurricane, and we were not living aboard when we moved down to those parts. It is cheap and people seem to love it.

Thanks. I'll see what I can find out about it.
